Where the Name Began

The name Madam was given to me, not as a nickname, but as a form of respect. It was a way of recognizing something I had nearly forgotten how to see in myself, that strength and softness aren't in competition, that a woman can lead with grace and still be undeniable. As women, we have often taken on the roles of provider and protector. Fierce and graceful, soft yet strong, commanding yet elegant. Madam allows us to embrace our femininity without sacrificing that power.

BUILT FROM REAL EXPERIENCE

I've spent nearly 30 years in eyecare, the last 15 inside the optical world itself, training as an optician along the way. In that time, I watched something happen again and again. Ethnic customers, and especially women with larger or fuller facial features, settled. They settled for frames that didn't fit right, and for a style selection that barely acknowledged them at all. Madam started as a Black-owned brand built for exactly those women. What began there has since grown. Madam now fits and celebrates women of every face shape and background, but the standard never changed. Fit first, always.

WHERE OPTICS MEETS FASHION

Most luxury brands entered the eyewear business after establishing themselves in fashion. Madam took the opposite path. We began in optics.

Our foundation is nearly three decades of eyecare experience and years spent helping real people find frames that not only looked beautiful, but actually fit. We're not bringing fashion into optics. We're bringing optical expertise into fashion.
