Northeast Optical Show, 2025

Northeast Optical Show, 2025

Every brand has a first.

For us, it was the Northeast Optical Show.

Dave, Mariya, Everton, and I packed up our collection and headed to the show not knowing exactly what to expect. We had spent months designing frames we believed in, but this was the first time we would introduce Madam to the independent optical community.

Like many people attending their first trade show, we expected to meet competitors.

Instead, we met colleagues.

From the moment the doors opened, experienced opticians, frame designers, laboratory owners, and independent retailers welcomed us with open arms. They answered questions, shared advice, introduced us to others, and genuinely wanted to see us succeed. It quickly became clear that independent eyewear brands are much like independent optical practices. We may each have our own identity, but we understand the value of supporting one another.

That spirit of generosity left a lasting impression on us.

We didn't arrive with the largest booth or the biggest name. We arrived with something we knew well: frames designed around real fit for real people, especially those who have spent years settling for eyewear that never quite fit the way it should.

The conversations we had throughout those few days changed how we think about our business. They shaped the way we approach wholesale partnerships, how we support our retailers, and the responsibility that comes with asking someone to trust your brand.

More importantly, they reminded us that relationships are the foundation of this industry.

We left with more than orders and business cards. We left with friendships, mentors, and a renewed confidence that Madam belonged in this community.

Sometimes the first step into something unfamiliar doesn't simply introduce you to an industry.

It introduces you to your people.
